My teaching style draws on all aspects of my music education and my artistic life. I grew up singing around the piano with friends and family. I studied traditional piano lessons (to Gr. 10 Royal Conservatory). I completed a Bachelor of Music (Highest Honors) in Jazz Piano at Carleton University, which included studies in piano pedagogy.

I teach private piano lessons at my home in Ottawa. My emphasis is on a fun, flexible and open approach to playing the piano: reading, playing by ear, theory, composition, improvising, accompanying, developing personal repertoires, songwriting, small private recitals. I incorporate interdisciplinarity into my lessons for fun and to facilitate expression, improvising, and composition/songwriting: writing music for poems, writing songs for paintings, making drawings based on specific sounds…

I aim to provide a foundation in music that will allow my students to enjoy playing the piano for life!
