Lancé en avril 2010, Bloomers est le troisième enregistrement indépendant de Megan Jerome. Les treize chansons de l’album ont été composées avec soin, valsant entre la sentimentalité et l’audace, la poésie et le jeu, et mettent en relief la voix riche et expressive de cette auteure-compositrice-interprète d’Ottawa. Mike Essoudry, un collaborateur de longue date, accompagne Megan à la batterie et aux percussions, rehaussant la texture des superbes compositions pour piano, accordéon et wurlitzer.

La vision artistique en constante évolution de Megan découle de ses explorations continues de la musique et d’autres formes d’art. Après avoir obtenu un baccalauréat en piano (jazz) de l’Université Carleton en 2003, Megan a développé ses aptitudes de composition et d’interprétation en participant a une variété de projets qui l’ont menée à travailler avec d’autres musiciens, des chœurs, des danseurs, des chorégraphes et des comédiens. Elle a donné des spectacles dans de nombreuses salles, dont des bars et des galeries d’art d’Ottawa et de l’extérieur de la région, ainsi que dans le cadre de grands événements comme le Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival en Colombie-Britannique. Elle a été artiste invitée à l’émission Canada Live de CBC Radio, a participé à un cercle des compositeurs du Festival international de Jazz d’Ottawa et a été mentor pour une jeune auteure-compositrice-interprète lors d’une conférence annuelle du Ontario Council of Folk Festivals. À l’été 2009, Megan a collaboré avec le renommé chorégraphe Tedd Robinson, qui a créé une nouvelle œuvre de danse contemporaine sur ses chansons.

Les deux premiers albums de Megan, Unlonely (2004) et This Uneven Pace (2006), ont été bien accueillis par le public et la critique et ont monté au sommet des palmarès de stations de radios communautaires et de stations de CBC partout au pays. Enregistré par Ross Murray, Bloomers ouvre un nouveau chapitre dans la carrière musicale de Megan, tant dans ses compositions que dans leur interprétation. On y trouve notamment Little Girls, qui alterne entre des mélodies délicates au piano et des rythmes syncopés de percussions et d’accordéon rappelant la musique folklorique européenne, ainsi que Ils ne sontaient pas là dont les paroles sont en français et Amour, qui comprend des paroles françaises et anglaises.

Megan’s artistic vision stems from her continued exploration of music and other art forms. Since obtaining a degree in Jazz Piano from Carleton University in 2003, she has honed her writing and performance skills and participated in projects that have led her to work with musicians, choirs, dancers, choreographers and actors. Megan’s captivating performances have delighted audiences in a variety of venues, from local and not-so-local pubs and art galleries to major festivals such as the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival in BC.

Megan has been featured on CBC Radio’s Canada Live, has participated in the Ottawa International Jazz Festival’s Composer’s Collective and mentored a young singer-songwriter during the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals’ annual conference. In the summer of 2009, Megan collaborated with renowned choreographer Tedd Robinson on a new contemporary dance work set to her songs.

Megan’s first two albums, Unlonely (2004) and This Uneven Pace (2006), have met rave reviews and topped charts on community and CBC radio stations nationwide. Recorded by Ross Murray, Bloomers represents a departure in Megan’s song writing and delivery.
